DAY 18 - The Commonwealth's case continues in the murder trial of Karen Read. Read is accused of driving drunk and hitting her boyfriend Boston police officer John OKeefe before leaving him to die in January 2022.
The high-profile trial is underway in Norfolk Superior Court in Dedham, Massachusetts. Prosecutors are seeking to prove that Read hit OKeefe with her car and then left him on the road to die.
Testimony resumed on Thursday with Massachusetts State Police Sgt. James Coughlin taking the stand. Coughlin testified that he responded to the scene of the accident and found OKeefe lying in the road. He said that OKeefe was unconscious and had multiple injuries.
